An entrepreneur launched an online leadership platform this month after his adventure travel business suffered losses of nearly £ 250,000 due to the pandemic.
Jason Rawles, 44, CEO and Founder of Aspire Adventures in Llanberis, quit his job in IT sales in 2013 to move to Wales and pursue his passion to help people, charities and businesses make a living. outdoor adventures.
He said: “After a series of negative life events, I left the corporate world, sold my house and moved to Wales to start a leisure business that matches my personal values,
“Wales is visually spectacular; is steeped in history; has incredible myths and legends; and is, frankly, the adventure capital of the world!
In October 2013, Jason began volunteering for Mountain Rescue and took over the management of the Llanberis Mountain Film Festival charity with a friend.
“My goal is to help business leaders be more efficient and lead adventures in the UK and around the world, but it hasn’t been easy,” added Jason.
“I had my wrist rebuilt in 2016 and the currency crash soon after Brexit forced me to reassess the whole business.
“It took me over two years to develop my business model, which has a strong sense of the social purpose that underpins my mission and values. “
Aspire Adventures was launched in December 2018. Since then, Jason has helped more than 650 people – including global businesses, charities, television personalities and political leaders – participate in expeditions and experiences based on the adventure.
It also organized free guided walks to 268 NHS workers as part of its award-winning NHS walks program.
“It’s so important not to forget the whole ecosystem,” Jason said.
With bookings for 2020/21 Expeditions and Adventures nearly full, Jason said everything is set for a banner year; then the coronavirus hit.
“The business lost £ 247,000 in revenue overnight which was catastrophic,” he admitted.
“Most importantly, we’ve lost the platform to inspire people or support aspirations. That’s why we launched the Aspire Leadership Academy online, because we always want to help people aim high, plan big and achieve their goals.
