A Northeastern construction company is expanding into a new area of ââwork as it begins a pipeline of projects for registered housing providers in the area.
Burridge Construction, which recently celebrated 50 years in business, has been building bungalows for over 55 years on behalf of the North Star Housing Group in Darlington Lane, Stockton.
The £ 870,000 project is partly funded by Homes England – formerly Homes and Communities Agency – and is expected to be completed in early 2019.
Sarah Fawcett, Development Manager at North Star, said: âThese bungalows will provide affordable, high-quality rental housing for seniors in a popular neighborhood, with the added benefit of bringing an abandoned site back into service. We can’t wait to see them completed.
The site was previously occupied by an empty bungalow, located on a large lot and the project will greatly improve the local environment.
Having been appointed to help the company win new construction work with registered housing providers in the area, Burridge Commercial Director Stephen McCoy added, âWe are delighted to have been given this opportunity to work with North Star.
âWe specialize in renovations and new commercial construction, we want to respond to the government’s program to increase the number and quality of new homes built, year by year, to cope with the housing shortage.
âIt’s a very exciting time for the company. Having marked 50 years of successful operation, we anticipate investment and growth, which will allow us to take the industry to the next level – becoming a full-service construction partner, rather than a building contractor.
The company – which is based on Newcastle’s Benton Square industrial estate but also has a depot in Wakefield, Yorkshire – employs 160 people and has built a solid reputation for doing refurbishment and repair contracts throughout the north of England for universities, hospitals, housing. private sector associations and clients.
