A father and son team have launched a new business that could transform the way surveying is done in the East Midlands.
Led by licensed surveyor Sunny Landa and his father John, Onyx Realty says it seeks “to bring a taste of American-style innovation” to an industry they deem “too risk averse “.
Based at 12 Regent Street, in the heart of Nottingham’s professional services district, the new company has adopted a simple paperless office environment and leverages high-end IT systems to provide round-the-clock service to its customers.
Business rate consultant Alan Burkitt and investment specialist Ian Mudge have also been recruited.
The new company kicked off with a series of agency instructions and professional matters, including lease renewals and rent reviews.
According to Sunny Landa, technology will play a key role in the business because “young people entering the surveying industry are interested in dynamic and flexible ways of working.”
He said: “Young people often use apps and other technologies in their daily lives. We want to harness the potential of these innovations to transform the way we work, just as US-based real estate agents have done. American real estate experts also have a positive attitude that we seek to emulate. They are entrepreneurial and focused on delivering results.
“We also want to be fully responsible as a company. We will let customers access our IT systems – there will be a ticketing system which will allow them to see live updates on their instructions – so we have nowhere to hide.
Landa adds: “Our clients are serious entrepreneurs and so are we. Like my father, I have created my own real estate portfolio, so that our clients can be assured that they are dealing with people who practice what they preach. We’ve both been there and done it, we like to take risks, and now we want to pass on our know-how.
“With 20 years’ experience in the territories we cover, our team have a comprehensive understanding of past market conditions, current trends and the future of the market. We really want to shout out to the East Midlands property scene – this region has so many assets and we are delighted to play our part.
